Season I · Oil Clash
Do not attack the first octopus you see.
Oil Clash is a territory-control event. Your alliance attacks connected territories, earns Occupation Points, and tries to own valuable land that produces Deepsea Crude.
When it opens: Season I guidance places Oil Clash in Week 2, beginning with the top four alliances and later expanding to the top eight. Use State 880's live schedule for the actual opening time.
The red-dot-player version
Before you tap Attack
- Read alliance mail and map markers. Leadership may have agreements with other alliances.
- Make sure the territory is connected to ours. The game will not let you attack an unrelated island.
- Check your Challenge Attempts. Every attack or garrisoning challenge costs one.
- Use PvP targets only when assigned. Smaller players can still help by attacking Lairs.
- Stop when leadership says stop. More fighting is not automatically more useful.
The expensive differenceReservoir Raid supplies temporary troops. Veteran players report that Oil Clash uses your real troops: injured troops need healing, and dead troops are genuinely lost. State 880 should confirm this with one low-risk battle before everyone begins fighting.
What are we trying to win?
Alliance progress
Occupation Points
Attack territories and hold building nodes to raise the alliance's score for that territory.
Your progress
Merit
Earn Merit from attacking, PvP battles, Lairs, and garrison duty. Merit determines personal ranking rewards.
Season income
Deepsea Crude
Owned territories produce Crude. It is used for alliance achievements and ranking rewards.
The map-link rule
You can attack a territory only when it is linked to territory your alliance already owns and the target is either neutral or next to another alliance's territory.
Normal-English translationYour alliance must build a connected path across the map. A tempting territory on the other side of the ocean is not available merely because you can see it.
Building territory or Lair?
| Target | What you do | Why it matters |
| Building territory | Attack an outpost, choose a target, then occupy its nodes. | Holding more nodes raises Occupation Points faster. Garrisoning and PvP can also earn Merit. |
| Lair | Attack the monsters and deal as much damage as you reasonably can. | Monster damage earns both Merit and Occupation Points, with a cap on each attack. |
Not strong enough for PvP?Attack Lairs. The game's own Rules screen specifically recommends this. You can help the alliance without donating your army to a stronger enemy.
How building territories work
- Attack the outpost. Choose the assigned enemy or target.
- Occupy building nodes. Each territory contains several nodes.
- Fill more nodes. The more nodes your alliance holds, the faster it earns Occupation Points.
- Stay if assigned to garrison. You earn Merit while stationed there; it is awarded when your troops leave the node.
- Defend the route. Losing one link may prevent the alliance from reaching the next planned territory.
Challenge Attempts: the tiny number that ruins big plans
Every attack or garrisoning challenge consumes one attempt. When you have none, you cannot act.
| Attempt rule reported for Season I | What it means |
| Normal daily claim | 8 attempts |
| Storage limit | 15 attempts; anything earned above the cap is wasted |
| Weekly Season Pass | 2 additional daily attempts |
Do not empty the tank at the opening bellSpend enough attempts to avoid hitting the cap, but preserve some for contested routes and higher-value territories that unlock later. Check State 880's live counter before relying on historical numbers.
Who owns a contested territory?
The alliance with the highest Occupation Points claims ownership during the daily settlement window. The current Rules screen identifies the settlement period as 23:50–00:00 UTC, with settlement at 00:00 UTC.
Why the last minutes matterA territory that looks secure earlier may still change hands before settlement. Leadership should identify the contested targets and preserve enough attempts to respond.
Your job, based on your account
| You are… | Your useful job |
| A rally leader or top fighter | Take difficult outposts, answer strong defenders, and protect the most important links. |
| A middle-strength fighter | Join coordinated attacks, fill building nodes, and reinforce the assigned route. |
| A smaller account | Attack Lairs, occupy safe nodes, and help maintain uncontested territory. |
| Short on time | Ask for one target, use enough attempts to avoid the cap, and report when you are finished. |
The simple daily routine
Leadership: make chaos optional
- Choose one Oil Clash coordinator and use map markers consistently.
- Publish today's targets, protected territories, and “do not attack” agreements.
- Save strong players for difficult outposts instead of wasting them on easy Lairs.
- Track route links, contested territory, attempt availability, and the 00:00 UTC settlement.
- Make agreements when they improve rewards—but tell members what was agreed.
What is confirmed, and what is player-tested?
Confirmed Territory links, Occupation Points, Merit, Deepsea Crude, node control, Lair caps, one-attempt challenges, and the daily settlement window come from the supplied in-game Rules screens.
Player-tested Real troop casualties, the advice to save attempts for later unlocks, and heavy use of diplomacy come from players who completed Season I.
Still checking State 880's exact daily attempt delivery, casualty destinations, healing behavior, and any balance changes should be verified when Oil Clash opens.
One-sentence Oil Clash strategyFollow the marker, protect your attempts, attack Lairs if PvP is too strong, and never start an international incident because a button was red.
